A road ride was on order initially, but with the snow and cold I opted for a exploratory fixed gear cross ride instead.
Trails usually a bit rough for cross riding, now softened with a few inches of snow: Check. 
Hand me down winter mountaineering pants and recycled bread bags (waterproof and wind-resistant): Check. 
Whiskey in the...um, bottle-o *insert James Hetfield "yee-ah" here*: Check. 
All made for a great winter ride.
